Harbottle School is a very small First School of 18 pupils, ranging in age from 4 - 9 years, The School also has a part time Nursery class.

There is a teaching Head and one part time teacher. Children come from a sparsely populated catchment area of 76 square miles, which includes Alwinton, Sharperton and Holystone as well as the outlying farms.

At present only 4 pupils live in Harbottle, the rest are brought in by taxi

Our links with the church of St Michael and All Angels are strong and the vicar is a regular visitor. We also work closely with Netherton and Branton First Schools which benefits both staff and pupils

Although our building dates from 1834 it has been extended and modernised to suit the demands of modern teaching and has twice been saved from closure by parent power. We hope that it remains for many more years to meet the needs of this rural community.

"I like the school because they have nice teachers and good people to make friends with"
